The Visibilia and invisibilia

The performans explores the rupture between image and reality, building on a concept introduced by Gilles Deleuze in The Time-Image (L’Image-temps, 1985). In this work, Deleuze develops the concept of the faux (the false), arguing that images do not merely reproduce truth but also construct fictions that establish their own realities. He distinguishes between the classical false—deception, manipulation, or intentional falsification—and the modern false, in which multiple temporalities, perspectives, and realities overlap to such an extent that the boundaries between truth and falsehood become impossible to define.

Danya Kovach approaches these ideas through the experience of war and the mechanisms of contemporary disinformation. His video performance reflects on propaganda as an essential ideological component of modern warfare. Inspired by the spread of fabricated stories and myths, he stages an intervention in which artificial plastic flowers disrupt a natural landscape. The work becomes a metaphor for the intrusion of constructed narratives into lived reality, questioning how propaganda infiltrates everyday perception. Rather than documenting events directly, the work examines how digital images, mediated information, and visual manipulation reshape our understanding of reality, inviting viewers to critically reconsider the images and narratives that surround them.

P.S.

Disinformation in time of war as an essential ideological component of modern warfare.

The spread of myths in the stories of some of my colleagues inspired me to create a video performance in which artificial, plastic flowers interfere with the natural landscape. This performance is an example of how important it is for us to distinguish between real information and artificial propaganda myths.
